Work Begins on Tennyson Parkway Bridge Over DNT Overnight on July 21

The following closures are needed for construction activities associated with the DNT Improvement Projects:

On Tuesday, July 21, crews will begin work on the Tennyson Parkway bridge over the DNT main lanes.  Crews will replace the current bridge in order to accommodate the added lanes on the DNT. The construction of this bridge will take place in two phases, and traffic will have access to the bridge throughout reconstruction.

The following work will take place on the Tennyson Parkway bridge at DNT beginning at 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 21:

  • Two left turn lanes of both east- and westbound Tennyson Parkway on the bridge will be closed to traffic indefinitely. One dedicated turn lane will be open for this phase of construction.
  • The north- to southbound U-turn will be closed to traffic, but will re-open at 5 a.m. Wednesday, July 22.
  • Traffic signals will be replaced with temporary signals.

Construction work includes adding an additional travel lane in each direction of the DNT from the Sam Rayburn Tollway to the President George Bush Turnpike.

Changeable message signs will be placed prior to lane closures in the construction area. When needed, law enforcement officers also will be on duty to assist motorists.

All closures are subject to weather conditions and will be postponed, if necessary.
